Each year, the American Cancer Society holds the Great American Smokeout, also known as GASO to many. The Great American Smokeout takes place each year on the third Thursday of November, this year for 2015, it falls on November 19th. Its main goal is to encourage those who are smokers, to take a leap, make the commitment, and quit smoking for good!
Many different public health entities get creative and hold different events to shed light on this important day, and help encourage their local smokers to kick the habit. The Southern Tier Tobacco Awareness Coalition is one of them.
This year for the Great American Smokeout, the Southern Tier Tobacco Awareness Coalition is partnering with our local hockey team, the Elmira Jackals. On Saturday November 14, 2015 we will be holding STTAC Night, during the Jackals game. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. Come see us at the table we will have set up for information about the Great American Smokeout, and more.
