Stephens, Lawrence earn SUNY awards for excellence

Corning, N.Y. — Corning Community College (CCC) faculty members Dr. Yvonne Stephens and Frederick (Bud) Lawrence were recipients of State University of New York (SUNY) chancellor's awards for excellence for 2011-12. Stephens, associate professor of health, earned the chancellor's award for excellence in teaching. She joined CCC in 2005 and has a Ph.D. in health education/health behavior from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her professional services include the American College Health Association and the American School Health Association, on which she serves as a member of the Sexuality Council and the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) Council. Lawrence, professor of human services, earned the chancellor's award for excellence in faculty service. He joined the college in 1994 and holds a master’s in psychology from SUNY Geneseo. His professional service includes serving as chair of the Professional Educators of Corning Community College membership committee from 2008 to 2011, and as the CCC Delegate to the SUNY Faculty Council from 2009 to 2012.
