MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. -- A local hospital is honored for its work with tobacco cessation. Schuyler Hospital received the Great American Smokeout award from the American Cancer Society Friday. In the last year, the hospital has become a tobacco-free campus. It also implemented tobacco cessation programs for hospital employees and patients. They offer counseling and tools from the New York State Quit Line. The program was sponsored and fully funded by the American Cancer Society. "We understand that using tobacco is very addictive and very hard to quit. So we want to make sure that people know that there are resources out there for them through the New York State Quit Line, through the American Cancer Society and the Tobacco Cessation Program where they can get resources, they can get tools, they can get counseling, any assistance they may need," said Schuyler Hospital community relations director Michelle Benjamin. This is the second award the hospital has received from the American Cancer Society in the last year.YNN News
