ELMIRA, N.Y. -- In honor of the 35th anniversary of the Great American Smokeout, Arnot Ogden Medical Center offered free smoke cessation giveaways to the public Thursday. On hand were nicotine replacement therapies like patches and gum, along with pedometers and other prizes to promote healthy living. This is the third year the hospital has held the event and they've seen dozens of people come for help. One nurse at the hospital quit smoking just last month and says she's feeling a lot better since taking that last puff. "Food does taste a little bit better. I don't know. You just feel like a weight is lifted off you. You just feel healthier. Just because, you don't, I don't know, you don't breathe in the smoke. You don't feel like you smell like an ashtray," said Jennifer Granger. If you or someone you know is interested in quitting, contact Arnot Ogden Medical Center at (607) 737-4463.YNN News
